ICAR-CIFRI organised 3 days training programme on ‘Enclosure culture for enhancing fish production from reservoirs’ for tribal fishers of Nandurbar district, Maharashtra under STC during 17-19 February 2026
ICAR-CIFRI, through its Research Station at Vadodara in collaboration with Department of Fisheries, Nandurbar District, Government of Maharashtra organised a 3 days training programme on ‘Enclosure culture for enhancing fish production from reservoirs’ for tribal fishers of Nandurbar district, Maharashtra during 17-19 February 2026. Forty seven tribal fishers of the Nandurbar district attended the training programme. Shri R. P. Rajam, Assistant Commissioner of Fisheries, Nandurbar district graced the inaugural session of the training programme as Chief Guest and appraised fishermen about the various Government schemes available for fishermen under TSP/PMMSY by Department of Fisheries, Government of Maharashtra. On the occasion, the Chief Guest released the Bilingual (English and Marathi) Training Manual prepared by ICAR-CIFRI, which were also distributed to the participants.
Dr. S. P. Kamble, Senior Scientist and Officer In-Charge and Shri K Lohith Kumar, Scientist, both from ICAR-CIFRI, Vadodara engaged the participants in various aspects of Cage and Pen culture for seed and table fish production. The training included lectures on cage culture and Pen culture, feeding management in enclosure cultures in inland open waters and environment and fish diseases and health management in Reservoir-based Cage and Pen culture, Scope of species diversification in cage culture as well as cage culture on Non-native fish species: Practices and risks. Mr. J. K. Solanki, Technical Officer of the Vadodara Research Station engaged participants on role of environmental parameters and their importance in cage and pen culture in Inland open waters and demonstrated chemical analysis of basic water quality parameters. Training programme ended with distribution of Participation Certificates to the successful participants by Shri R. P. Rajam, Assistant Commissioner of Fisheries, Nandurbar district and ICAR-CIFRI team. Mr. Prakash Gavit, Technical Assistant and Nikhit Kasinath Deokar from Department of Fisheries, Nandurbar, Govt. of Maharashtra actively supported in the conduct of training programme.
