ICAR - Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, under Indian Council of Agricultural Research, is a premier research organization mandated for inland open water fisheries research in the country.

SAIF, ICAR -CIFRI houses a variety of major analytical instruments which are operated and maintained by a dedicated group of Scientists. It is an integral part of ICAR - CIFRI, and operates with an "open access policy". The result of this policy is that all, including small educational institutions and industries in the country, can benefit from the services of SAIF. SAIF does not operate to compete with any commercial laboratories but, it has a vision, "to be amongst the top Analytical Instrument Laboratories in the world".
