The inaugural session was graced by Shri Hemanta Narzary, IAS (Retd.), Former Principal Secretary, Government of Assam, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, Shri Narzary emphasized the importance of adopting scientific fish farming practices to improve productivity, generate employment, and strengthen rural livelihoods. He urged the fish farmers to actively participate in the training and make the best use of the technical knowledge shared by experts. Welcoming the dignitaries and participants, Dr. S. K. Majhi, Head, ICAR-CIFRI, Guwahati Centre, encouraged the fish farmers to interact with the resource persons and share their practical experiences for mutual learning. Dr. P. K. Hazarika, OSD, Karbi Welfare Autonomous Council (KWAC), Assam, also appealed to the participants to take full advantage of the training programme to enhance their understanding of fisheries management. Dr. B. K. Bhattacharjya, Principal Scientist, in his address encouraged the farmers to adopt fish farming as a sustainable livelihood option and urged them to actively participate in the training sessions with a formal vote of thanks.
