Mr. Santosh Das, IAS, Director of Fisheries, Govt. of Tripura, and team of Officers visited ICAR-CIFRI outdoor cage culture research facility at Maithon reservoir

Mr. Santosh Das, IAS, along with three other officers including Mr. Bappi Basfore, Mr. Aghore Debbarma, and Mr. Madan Tripura of the Directorate of Fisheries, Govt. of Tripura, visited ICAR-CIFRI outdoor cage culture research facility at Maithon reservoir, Jharkhand on 30th January 2026 under a study tour organized by the Directorate of Fisheries, Tripura. The aim of the visit was to gain exposure to the scientific management of ICAR-CIFRI cage culture and associated technologies.

The visit was organized under the guidance of the Director, ICAR-CIFRI and the HoD of Open Water Aquaculture Management and Production (OWAPM) Division. The officers were briefed on-site about the technical day-to-day management practice and scientific know-how of operational procedures of cage management at Maithon reservoir. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Rahul Das, Senior Scientist of OWAPM Division. The synergy of the visit was to promote cage culture technology in the state of Tripura, especially at the Dumbur reservoir of the state, in a commercial way for the livelihood improvement of fishers/fish growers.
