CIFRI reached out to 745 farmers on the occasion of Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) launch

The inaugural ceremony of the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) was held today at IARI,New Delhi. The Hon’ble Prime Minister launched major initiatives of Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and to make the occasion impactful, parallel events were organized across India by all ICAR Institutes and KVKs with great enthusiasm and participation from officials, scientists, farmers, and stakeholders from across the agricultural and allied sectors.
ICAR-CIFRI organized two programmes, one off-campus and an on-campus.The off-campus prprogramme was organized at Sundarbans,24 Pargana. About 745 farmers including 677 women participated in the programme. Dr. Srikanta Samanta,HOD; Dr. R.K Manna,HOD; Dr. Arun Pandit,I/C EPU along with other scientists and officials conducted the programme. The programme was stated with small briefing on the package of practices of small-scale aquaculture in winter(Rabi Season). Various aspects of Natural Farming was also discussed with the farmers. A live streaming of the Honorable Prime Minister’s programme was also organized in the remote Sundarbans. In the Institute Head Quarter, a sensitization workshop was organized. A total of 136 staff members participated in that workshop. Various schemes of fisheries were discussed. Dr. B. K Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI highlighted the objectives of PMDDKY — to promote sustainable agricultural and fisheries practices, improved productivity, efficient resource use, and enhanced income generation for farmers through innovative technologies and integrated approaches. The staffs of CIFRI also witnessed the live streaming of the HPM programme.
Several participants expressed appreciation for the Government’s continuous efforts to support farmers through evidence-based and technology-driven initiatives.The inauguration of the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) symbolizes a major step toward building a sustainable, productive, and prosperous agricultural and fisheries system aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
