Short course training on “Fish disease diagnosis and health management in inland open waters”

ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore organised a 5-days training programme on “Fish disease diagnosis and health management in inland open waters” for faculty, researchers and students during 18th to 22nd December, 2023. Faculties, UG and PG students, researchers and faculties from Barasat Govt. college, Kolkata; College of Fisheries, Gumla; Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Bihar, Diamond harbour Women’s University, Midnapore City college, West Bengal participated wholeheartedly.
The Director, ICAR- CIFRI, Dr. B.K. Das inaugurated the program and emphasized the need of managing fish health and fish disease diagnostic approaches in inland open water bodies. The aim of the training programme is to introduce the trainees with the basics of fish disease monitoring and diagnosis in relation to open water ecosystem as well as to make a clear understanding on various monitoring parameters of different biotic and abiotic components. The training also aims at delivering the latest methodologies and knowledge on mitigation measures for deteriorated environment and fish health through better management practices. Dr. B.K. Das, Dr. S. K. Manna, Dr. A. K. Bera, Dr. R. Baitha, and Dr. V. Kumar coordinated the training program.
