ICAR-CIFRI disseminated fish Catch Assessment Survey Software to the Department of Fisheries, Government of Chhattisgarh

Department of Fisheries, Government of Fisheries approached and subsequently outsourced ICAR-CIFRI to develop a software for fish catch estimation of waterbodies below 10 ha for the species—IMC, pangas, tilapia, and prawn, specifically customised according to their requirements. The ICAR-CIFRI successfully developed the software, named as CAS ver. 2.0, in a participatory mode to satisfy the client’s needs. In an auspicious occasion, Dr. B. K. Das, the Director, ICAR-CIFRI has handed over the CAS ver. 2.0 to Mr. Y. P. Singh, Assistant Statistical Officer—the representative of Department of Fisheries, Government on 20th September 2023.

The development team, Dr. Malay Naskar (Principal Scientist), Ms. Chayna Jana (Scientist), Mr. S. K. Sahu (Scientist) and Md. Naim (Technical Assistant), and Dr. Srikanta Samanta, Head, Fishery Resource Assessment and Informatics Division were present in the occasion.
