One-week training on open fisheries was organized at ICAR-CIFRI, Prayagraj

A training programme on “Management of Open Water Fisheries for Doubling the Farmer’s Income” was organized during 21-28th August 2023 at the Centre. Total 14 participants were registered for the training comprising of students, teacher, fishermen and research scholars. The participants were provided theoretical as well as practical classes related to the fisheries of the open water. Classes on fisheries resources of the country, monitoring of water & soil quality parameters, preparation of pond, advanced techniques of aquaculture, fish disease symptom and cure, use of post-harvest technology in fishery, value addition in the fisheries, project formulation and schemes of government etc. were taken in the training programme along with practical session on water and soil quality analysis.

Pre and post evaluation of participants were carried out during the training to understand the level of fisheries knowledge of the candidates. Valedictory function was organized at the end of the training programme on 28/08/2023. Dr B. K. Das, the Director of ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore addressed the participants on the occasion and he stressed on using the acquired knowledge of training for enhancing the fish production and earning the money. The training was ended with the distribution of training certificate and manual to the participants.
