Garib Kalyan Sammelan: PM Interaction with Farmers and Other Beneficiaries

As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav–75th year of Indian Independence celebrations on 31st May 2022 Honourable Prime Minister shri Narendra Modi interacted with beneficiaries of about sixteen schemes and progammes launched byGovernment of India in last 8 years at the national level event “Garib Kalyan Sammelan” held at Shimla through video conferencing present in different parts of India Among the 14 welfare schemes were Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Poshan Abhiyaan, Ayushman Bharat Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Jal Jeevan Mission.The interaction explored the possibility of convergence and saturation of these schemes and give an opportunity to assess the citizens’ aspiration for India as it completes 100 years of independence in the year 2047. This Sammelan was one of the largest ever single-event nationwide intera.ction spanning all districts, where Prime Minster interacted with beneficiaries about the impact that these schemes and programmes have had on their lives. On this occasion Honourable Prime Minister also released the 11th instalment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi amounting to more than 21 thousand crore rupees to more than 10 crore farmers. As part of Garib Kalyan Sammelan, on 31st May 2002 the state level event was organised by ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore in collaboration with Eastern Railway, Kolkata at Railway Indoor stadium, Eastern Railway sports complex, Behala, Kolkata.

Shri Ashwini Vaishnav, Honourable Minister of Railway, Communication and Electronics & IT was the chief guest, Shri Suvendu Adhikari, Honourable Leader of Opposition, West Bengal Legislative Assembly was guest of honour. Elected public representatives and more than 2000 farmers and other stakeholders participated in the program.Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI welcomed the honourable minister and other dignitaries and briefed about the event activities. Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Honourable minister in his address as chief guest informed the gathering about the benefits accrued to millions of people all over India by all the schemes launched by Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He emphasised that these schemes has benefitted tens of crores and address the most pressing problems of poorest segments of population, including housing, availability of potable water, food, health and nutrition, livelihood and financial inclusion etc.

As part of the event, Honourable Minister and other Dignitaries interacted with 8 beneficiaries of different schemes and with farmers and other stakeholders. After the interaction session, Main programme event at Shimla Himachal Pradesh was broadcasted live at the venue and listened passionately the speech of Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. More than 2500 participants including 3 MLAs, public representative, 2000 Farmers, Beneficiaries of various schemes, Officers & staff members of ICAR institutes located in Kolkata and adjoining districts, Officers and staff members of Eastern, South Eastern and Metro Railway Zones, Officers of Department of Post were present on this occasion.
