NFDB sponsored awareness programme (Webinar) on “Sustainable Reservoir Fisheries Management Towards Income Generation”

Bengaluru Regional Centre of ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (CIFRI) conducted a National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) sponsored awareness programme on “Sustainable Reservoir Fisheries Management Towards Income Generation” on 14 February 2022. Dr. Sibina Mol S. welcomed the resource persons and the participants to the program. Dr. Basanta Kumar Das. Director, ICAR-CIFRI, made the introductory remarks and briefed the research activities being carried out by ICAR-CIFRI towards the management of reservoir fisheries and its contribution towards the livelihood of inland fishers. Head of Bengaluru Centre, Dr. Preetha Panikkar gave an overview of reservoir fisheries management. Shri. M. Karthikeyan, Dr. Ajoy Saha, Dr. Sibina Mol S. and Ms. Jesna P. K., scientists of ICAR - CIFRI made presentations on various topics for enhanced fish production from reservoirs and for the socio-economic development of fisherfolk.
The programme was conducted on virtual mode and about 100 participants from various states India attended the program. Officials from department of fisheries, students and scholars from universities and research institute and stakeholders actively participated. Dr. Sibina Mol S. proposed the vote of thanks. The program was coordinated by Dr. Preetha Panikkar and co-coordinated by Dr. Sibina Mol S.
