Training programme titled ‘Orientation on PMMSY scheme for fisher stakeholders’ organized by ICAR-CIFRI, Guwahati

The Guwahati Regional Centre of ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute organized a training program entitled ‘Orientation on Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) scheme for fisher stakeholders’ on 09.02.2022at Hiragota-Rowmari-Dighali beel, Kamrup district, Assam. The training programme was sponsored by the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, Hyderabad. A total of 50Scheduled Caste fishers and farmers (including youth and women)participated in the day-long training programme. The programme was organized under the overall guidance of Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore and Dr. B. K. Bhattacharjya, Head (Acting), ICAR-CIFRI RC, Guwahati & Programme Convener. It was conducted by Mr. A. K. Yadav, Dr. Pronob Das and Dr. S. Borah, Scientists of the Centre.
Dr. S. Borah, Organizing Secretary welcomed the participants for the programme and explained the purpose of the day-long programme. He delivered a session on enclosure culture technologies for inland water bodies. Dr. P. Das explained fisheries enhancement options for inland open water systems and technologies for inland aquaculture. Mr. A. K. Yadav delivered a session on overview of PMMSY schemes for inland fisheries. On the occasion, an awareness programme on ‘Sustainable production of climate resilient nutri-fish from wetlands’ under ICAR-WorldFish collaborative project under Window-3 on small scale fisheries in wetlands for livelihood and nutritional security was also organized.
