Prime Minister & Farmer Centric Program at ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore @Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav

ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore, fervently conducted ‘Farmers-Scientists Interface Meet on Climate Resilient Varieties, Technologies & Practices’ following Council’s instructions creating climate awareness amongst farmer on 28 September at 1000 hrs. The program was initiated with the power point presentation on ‘Climate Resilient Agriculture’ which was elaborated to the 103 participating farmers by the Institute’s Scientists. Subsequently, this program was followed by the Inaugural ceremony of ICAR-NIBSM, Raipur, Chhattishgarh being addressed by Hon’ble PM, India, Shri Narendra Damodar Das Modi Ji, attended by the farmers, Scientists and other staff of the Institute at 1100 hrs. Thirty five climate resilient varieties of different crops have been dedicated to the Nation by our Hon’ble PM including offering Clean Green Campus Awards to the four Agricultural Universities. The farmers were enthralled with the deliberations of our Hon’ble PM which has ushered in up-scaling of knowledge to the farmers on various aspects of climate resilient agriculture in general and climate-smart fisheries in particular. Importance and incorporation of millets to our daily food grains for nutritional security has been elaborated during the deliberations, which has been well taken by the farmers in boosting up of rural health. Face to face virtual interactions between Hon’ble PM and farmers across India paved the path towards doubling farmers’ income in the days to come. This program was subsequently followed by farmers-scientists interface meet at the Institute resolving various facets of problem faced by the fishers in inland open waters due to climate change impacting on production and productivity severely.
