Coracle Distribution to Reservoir Fisherfolk of Kerala under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) Programme

Coracle Distribution to Reservoir Fisherfolk of Kerala under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) Programme ICAR-CIFRI Kochi Research Station distributed four fibreglass fishing coracles to the tribal fishers of two reservoirs in Kerala as a part of the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) Programme with the able guidance of Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute.
On the occasion of National Fish Farmer’s Day, 10th July 2021, two fishing coracles were distributed to the fishermen of the Vazhani Dam Harijan- Girijan Fisheries Co-operative Society, Vazhani, Thrissur district. The programme was inaugurated by Shri. T. V. Sunil Kumar, President, Thekkumkara Grama Panchayat, Vazhani, Thrissur, Kerala. Other guests included Smt. Shiny Jacob (Ward member, Vazhani), and Shri. P. Gangadharan (President, Vazhani Dam Harijan- Girijan Fisheries Co-operative Society).
Two fishing coracles were distributed to the tribal fishermen of the Kanjirapuzha SC/ST Fisheries Co-operative Society, Kanjirapuzha, Palakkad district on 1st September, 2021. The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Sati Rajeevan (President, Kanjirapuzha Grama Panchayat) in the presence of Shri. Siddique Cheppadan (Vice-President, Kanjirapuzha Grama Panchayat), and Shri. Sreedharan (Fishery Development Officer).
The programmes were successfully organized by Dr. Deepa Sudheesan (Scientist) and Dr. Thankam Theresa Paul (Scientist) with the help of Shri. S. Manoharan (CTO) and Shri P. V. Shajil (Technician).
