ICAR- CIFRI Distribution of Ornamental aquarium sets and ornamental fish to the schools on the occasion of National Science Day ICAR-CIFRI, in collaboration with Kultali Milan Tirtha Society, distributed Ornamental aquarium sets and ornamental fish to the schools on the occasion of National Science Day on 28th February 2026 at Kultali. The programme was held under the guidance of the Director, ICAR-CIFRI, and witnessed by the enthusiastic participants from different schools in the region. As part of the initiative, 50 ornamental aquarium sets along with ornamental fish were distributed to schools to promote awareness and interest in aquatic life. A total of 50 head/ representatives from educational institutes and 149 students from different schools took part in the event. During the programme, students and teachers were briefed on the importance of National Science day celebration, importance of agricultural science and role of ICAR. Also, the importance of fisheries science and ornamental fish keeping and the career prospective in fisheries science were elaborated by the scientists of ICAR-CIFRI. It was emphasized that ornamental fish keeping not only provides relaxation and aesthetic enjoyment but also serves as an educational tool for understanding aquatic biology and ecology. In addition, it supports a thriving global industry that sustains livelihoods, encourages biodiversity conservation through captive breeding, and holds cultural significance, with species such as koi and goldfish symbolizing prosperity and good fortune. The importance of fisheries science in ensuring India’s future food security was also discussed. To make the session more interactive, demonstrations on the assembly of ornamental aquarium sets were conducted, allowing students and teachers to gain hands-on experience.
