ICAR-CIFRI Celebrated 158 th Birth Anniversary of Biswa Kavi

On 9 th May, 2019, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore observed the auspicious occasion of Rabindra Jayanti at the Institute Lobby. The programme was hosted by the CIFRI Recreation Club. All member staff of CIFRI-Barrackpore gathered to revere the 158 th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. Dr. Aparna Roy started the programme with a small introduction about Tagore and his role as a philosopher, poet and educationist in Indian lives. Dr. V.R. Suresh, Acting Director, CIFRI followed by the other Principal Scientists paid their homage to Guruji by offering flowers and garlands at his portrait. The celebration started with a beautiful Rabindra sangeet by Mrs. Keya Saha, CTO. Various member staffs and scientists spoke about how our revered Biswakavi is still alive among us through his immortal creations of soulful songs, intriguing dramas, masterpiece novels and so on. Tagore’s contribution and feelings towards Agriculture and farmers was also talked about. A concluding song was sung by Mrs. Abhijeeta Sengupta, ACTO. The programme was organized by ICAR-CIFRI Recreation Club under guidance and inspiration of Director,CIFRI.
