ICAR-CIFRI organized Midterm review meeting of Regional Committee (Region II) on 13th November, 2017 at Barrackpore. The ICAR Region II, comprising the States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal and Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and has enormous potentialities for agriculture development including livestock and fisheries. Last Meeting of ICAR Regional Committee – II held at ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad, 24-25 June 2016 and this meeting was conducted to review the progress of the meeting. Dr. J.K Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries) Chaired the meeting. Dr. Jena in his address said while food production scenario of the region has improved substantially over last one decade, the region is still deficit in pulses, oilseeds. Hence, concerted effort of Centre, State, NGOs and other stakeholders are required for a strong Research, Development and Extension Programme in the region to achieve self sufficiency in various sectors of agriculture and also to double the income of the farmers by 2022 in line of the Vision of Govternment of India. A total 26 ICAR-Institutes/RRCs,eight universities participated in the meeting. Representatives from the State Departments of West Bengal, Telangana, Odisha, Andaman and Nicobar Island were also presented in the meeting. The Action taken report was presented by Dr. B.K Das, Director CIFRI and Member secretary of Regional Committee-II. A total of 35 Action points were framed during last RCM-II at Hyderabad. The pregress of the action points and action taken were discussed in thit meeting in detail. Dr. A. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, DirectorIndian institute of Oilseed Research; Dr. D. R.
